You can now view PPTX files with the new PowerPoint 2007 viewer
With Microsoft Office 2007 users now more widespread, compatibility issues with PowerPoint 2003 and earlier versions are also becoming more prevalent. Even within organisations, versions of Office can vary greatly, and with the latest version even having the new file extension .PPTX, this can mean some users unable to view PowerPoint Presentations created in 2007.
So to remedy the problem, you can download the PowerPoint 2007 viewer, which will allow you to view files created in PowerPoint 2007 even if you have an earlier version of Office.
To download the viewer, simply click here and follow the instructions.
If you are a PowerPoint 2007 user and you want to make sure that all users can view your files, no matter which version of Microsoft Office they are using, then make sure you save your file as a PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation with the .PPT file extension. To do this:
- Click the Microsoft button on the top left of the ribbon, and choose ‘Save As’
- In the ’Save as Type’ dropdown menu, choose the PowerPoint 97 – 2003 Presentation (*.ppt) option
Your file will now be viewable and editable in earlier versions of PowerPoint.
