Asus launch Eee PC Seashell

12 Jun 2009

Asus launches the Eee PC Seashell, a super-slim model of netbook.

Asus first launched it's Eee PC (small and lightweight laptop) at Asia's biggest technology show two years previous, representing an entirely new product category. However, since then there have been a number of copy cat designs and as a result Asus have had to keep on their toes, constantly creating fresh innovations; and the Eee PC Seashell is no exception.

Asus is a technology-orientated company, made up of one of the world's top research and development teams, currently ranked 5th in the world. The company is well known for it's high-quality and innovative technology and is a leading provider of computers, communications and consumer electronics.

Research shown on BBC NEWS, indicates that "netbooks have been a hit with consumers"; and due to their compact frame and lightweight build there are a number of benefits to owning a 'SeaShell'. The question is whether businesses will also adopt the technology. The smaller size would definitely make life easier for many business users as it enables them to carry their laptops more comfortably and work in more confined environments such as on trains or in coffee shops. Sales teams in particular could benefit the most, as creating and amending PowerPoint presentation content or Word Documents is something that will always be worked on right up until the last minute and often whilst on the move.
